wow, I'd like to write about how great the detail is and how expressive the characters are, but it's seems redundant after all the other comments. So, I'm forced to say, nice work. I'm thoroughly impressed.

As for the pencil/ink question, I think it depends on what kind of mood your trying to create. The pencil version seems rich and moody, while the inked seems more modern and surreal, dispite the fantasy theme.
They're both striking, but I think I favor the pencil version. It seems more fitting to the setting.

Very nice imagery. I prefer this one to the inked one. The shading and sketchyness even are just better looking. Just my 2¢.
